Are there any turtles that will fit into a 20 gallon (30" x 12" x 16")?

Cheers

Matt

Terrapins will eventually need larger quarters when they grow old, soon needing a tropical pond.

All the LPS have terrapins in little tanks :/

Yeah...they are young and they are just selling them.
If they are advising people keep terrapins in that size of tank, they are idiots.

Where I work, the minimum recommended size for terrapins/sliders is a 6'x2'x2'.

painted turtles

If by that you mean Chrysemys picta, then that's another big no :).

go to china town, my china town sells baby turtles in reptile cages, and they have one reptile cage piled high with turtles, probably about 25 of them in a 1/2 gallon reptile cage piled high. Bottom ones probably died of suffocation. And to my great dissapointment my mom wanted me to get one, i thought she was learning :(.

I seriously wanted to call PETA even though i dont really like them, just wanted to see those people go off to jail for animal abuse. And freaking kids with their stupid parents, parents got the turtles because their kids wanted them. And the parents were looking to see which one was the healthiest lol, like it matters, poor thing is going to die anyway.

People see something and think its right, the same thing applies at a petstore as it does at my chinatown, you see a big fish in a small tank and think its ok to do that. What people dont seem to understand is longterm survival, things they cant see, and how almost all living animals grow.

See my siggy, its partially directed at those people in my chinatown who wanted to buy those turtles.

correct me if im wrong, but did you just tell him to go to chinatown to get a turtle then say that they will all die when you get one?

no, i mean go to my china town and see that, not for him to actually do it lol. The post was directed more at grimmy, i was saying how just because someone does it, doesnt make it right. But many people think it is, just like all the people who bought turtles that day without knowing a single thing about them.
