Been having a problem with bits coming off me plants when I do the weekly water change. Everything looks nice and clean when I've finished and then a leaf or bit of branch comes floating by in the current.
Up to now I've been using a small net to catch them but it does more harm than good and upsets me Guppies.
A light bulb moment happened and I thought I'd share it with you all.
I bought a Turkey Baster, squeezed the bulb and put the nozzle near the offending vegetation then let go of the bulb.
Up the tube the offender went.
I squirted the water back into the tank thru a net to catch the leaf and keep the water level.
Guppies didn't seem to mind and I found it easier than the net, getting into hard to reach areas without disturbing the tank layout.
Now I can sit back for another week enjoying me Guppies without any ufo's

That's a good idea! I may just have to do that because that happens to me every once in a while! :p

Thanks for sharing! :D

I love my turkey baster, use it all the time!

I have one too - never been near detergent - purely for fish tank use.

Yep, a useful tool for this hobby, a turkey baster, I have one too, especially useful for getting things off bottom of tnk like leftover algae wafer or dead leaves etc.

Also find it useful for getting tank water into the test tubes for water tests :)

Yes, very useful tool :). Like charlie, I too use one for the water test tubes.
Also good for target feeding. I use one to shoot worms into my tire track eel's cave when he's being reclusive and not up for hand feeding.
