It's treatable, with six months of five combined antibiotics (I think it was 5). It is a skin lesion, but if it reaches your armpits after its slow journey up the lymphatic system, it apparently really hurts. As it was, the antibiotics wrecked my guts and I felt that, but it was otherwise painless. Not pretty, but painless.
