Ok, I need some advice on a situation here. I have a ten gallon that is a pretty new tank (probably one or two months) with 6 danios, and then a 30 gallon that is probably 3 months old with one bala shark. I am getting a test kit sometime this week, but I don't have any stats for now, sorry. :X

The ten gallon I have had for years, and for years it has been up and running. It was an established tank, so when we got the 30 gallon tank, I originally was trying to do a fishless cycle and I put some gravel from the ten gallon into the 30 gallon to speed up the cycle. What I didn't know was that my ten gallon had tuberculosis in it (the fish were all dying with a bent spine). Does the 30 gallon have tuberculosis now, too?

I am getting a black moor from my friend (she has the poor thing in a 5 gallon, so I am giving it a temporary home until she can afford a bigger tank for him) and I want to put it in the 30 gallon. (The bala is going back to the fish store, as we cannot get it a proper tank) Can the black moor get tuberculosis from the 30 gallon having had gravel from an infected tank? (The gravel was taken out when my dad got impatient and got the bala before I was able to do a fishless cycle.)

If the 30 gallon is possibly infected, then should I strip it down and clone my ten gallon? The ten gallon isn't very old, so I don't even know if it can be cloned yet. :/ I will be getting a test kit sometime this week to see if it is cycled.

So I'm basically asking if the 30 gallon is infected with tuberculosis. If not, then thats all. If it is, then I need to know how to clone the 10 gallon into the 30 gallon, or if I can even do that.

Sorry if I am being confusing. :/

Does anyone know? :/

I need to know something soon, as we are returning the bala today, and I need to know if I should put a few fish from the ten gallon into the 30 gallon to keep it cycled....

I think so. If you have used anything from the diseased tank it has prob transfered the disease. You would be better off emptying the tank and washing it with some aquarium safe disenfectant. You can then fill it up with COLD water and leave the heater off as a black moor is a coldwater fish. You can dechlorinate the water leave it for a few days then put the black moor in. When you have given it back you can turn the heater on and start another cycle. I would buy new filter media as well, as the infection could be in the sponges.

About the ill fish, have you considered Euthenasia.
You can freeze some water until it has a thin layer of ice then put the fish in. It will fall asleep within seconds. Its a Humane way.

Hope this helps!
