i saw 3, around 4", of these at my lfs yesterday and i'm planning of getting them. they look really bad there in a mere 10g. i cant find their identity. fishbase came up with sand knifefishes but it'd be better to check with the people here. the fish looked like the knife seen here.

The scientific name is Rhamphichthys rostratus, theyre difficult to keep and really need to be in a species tank as they are easily bullied and dont compete well for food. Despite reaching about a meter in the wild they eat tiny foods which they pick out of the sand. Theyre also quite dependent on softwater and are prone to all sorts of infections when kept in hard alkeline water.
