I've got two Penguin filters, the 330 and the next smallest (170?). Anyways, they seem to make a bloody lot of noise. I think the impellers are hitting the casing or something. They were both silent, then all of a sudden, thery both turned into noisy, grinding machines.

I may end up having to spend some of travel money on a new cannister, something I wish I didnt have to do. I'm very dissapointed. Any suggestions on how to fix the noise problem? :dunno:

if you use sand as a substrait you shold take the clear tinted tube off your 330... i had the smae problem... a little sand will chip teh impeller and cause it to rattle away....

canarsie11 is right, the emporer is higher quility, there impellers make all the differnce...

inspect the impeller, if it has any chips or chunks missing its toast... if the impeller looks good try blastign out the hole, where the magnet seats in the filter case, with water. i had a problem with little bits of metalic sand holding onto the mganets on the impeller.... i hadto dismantle the whole thihng and clean out the tiny bits.....
