I am having extreme difficulty reading the High Range PH Test Solution results made by API (part of master test kit - not standalone kit).

I always shake my bottle thoroughly before use, and ensure I have the correct amount of water in the test tube.

But some I how I can NEVER tell what the PH really is. The 'normal' PH test kit always says 7.6 which is the highest reading, so I try the high range PH test.

I know the PH is too high for my tank and need to take steps to gradually lower it, but can't get an idea of what it currently is.

Has anyone else ever had trouble reading these tests, and if so how do you differentiate between the brown and maroon?

I had the same difficulty with the pH test also.
My water was reading 7.6 with the low range test and then reading 7.4 with the high range test. I just split the difference.
I was finally able to bring my pH down to 7.2 by using Seachem Acid Buffer, so I don't have any issue reading the test now.
