Tropical Snails?

Hey there all.

I'm new to the forum, and I plan on taking pictures of my 29 Gallon Tropical setup later, and posting the pictures. But for now, I have a concern.

I just recently cycled my tank and I picked up some more fish. I also purchased a new plant. After a couple days I have noticed a Single Tiny Snail. He is transparent, and not developed yet. I can tell he is a snail because his back section looks like a little shell, and he has 2 long tenticles off his head. He is very small though, size of a head of a pen. Should I worry? I've read about snails over running tanks. Should I just wait it out, and let him eat away, and then pick up a snail eating fish?

Just wanted to get some insight from someone experienced. Thanks in advance!

Just scoop them out mate.

They Do Over run your tank. But you should'nt be too concerned at the moment

Snails can indeed become a problem if you do not make an effort to control their numbers. In many of my tanks I allow them to grow and reproduce and they are not a problem, in others I take strict measures to prevent them being introduced. If you are not going to want snails in that tank, I would remove every one that you can while they are still small.

Don't worry! there's nothing wrong with snails, unless they are they kind that eat your fsvoutite expensive plants, most aren't. Personally I have snails in all my tanks as they do a great job of clearing up debris and keeping tank substrate clean. You won't get overrun with 100s of baby snails unless you are seriously overfeeding your fish and there is too much food left over for the snails. Under normal conditions, snail populations should stabilise, NOT get out of control, in a healthy tank.
