hi i recieved 3 pieces of Trixie Mangrove Root from zooplus today http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/decoration/natural_decoration/natural_roots/14300 and decided to sterilize it by pouring boiling water over it when hot and wet the wood gave off a strong smell like wood preserver or creocote does anyone know if this is normal mangrove root smell or a treatment used to treat the wood to kill bugs? can i trust zooplus to suply wood for my aquarium? im worried about puting this in my tank and would like to know what you think any help appreciated thanks

I used some zooplus mopani wood. I didn't boil it though because it can break it down faster, leading to faster rot.

The boiling isn't the end of the world. I'd worry about the smell too.
