Trip to my LFS tomorrow.

I've been good. No, I have been GREAT!

I have forced myself not to buy any more fishes, but with every passing day, the pressure grows. I MUST NOT BUY MORE FISHES!

I know I can do it. Any advice to make me stronger, chums?

Be strong, avoid the tank isle and just get the food, filter media and run out the door before you call the guy over with the net and catch tank.

If you can't resist, then just buy a couple tetras or a cory cat.

Only take enough money with you to get whatever you need - no extra money or cards or cheques - just enough for what you need. That's the only thing that works with me

I forget what thread but someone just posted that before going to the LFS she empties all cash and credit cards from her purse and only takes exact change to get her PLANNED purchase. I thought that was a brilliant idea. Cause some people (like me) tend to stop in the LFS 'just to say hi' and end up spending $100.

use all your money on .............CANDY then u wont be able to get anymore fish and u will get sick so u wont be thinking about fish and depending on the amount of money u have u could have enough candy 4 a month !

Alternatively if you cannot resist the temptations get somone to whip/kick you 10 times for every fish you buy or alternativly drink a gallon of tank water for every fish you buy.

If I go in for a specific thing, then I will get that and only that. It's worse if I just pop in if I'm in the neighborhood. That's when I do the most damage. Chances are when I'm getting something specific I'm doing a few other things as well... I try to group my tasks so that I don't have to go out every day. I'll do 1 major outing, and get everything I need for whatever. I can't very well buy fish if I still have 2 or 3 hours until I get home!

Hopefully I'm going tomorrow..... Grr... They do some really cool fish, and its just my luck I have an empty 5g and 18g (both uncycled, but when your impatients...). Hopefully I can get away with just some plants.

i went to get some food and ended up with a new plant and was really really close to getting another catfish. luckily i was able to control myself.

yeah the first time i went in to my Lfs i went in to get goldfish flakes adn ended up with a full 10 gallon setup and 6 fish.

I think we should open up another forum area for FLA fish lovers anonymous, yes I love to spend money on fishies etc too.

But does it really so bad? Like someone else said, at least hes not addicted to drugs, just fishies, and well what harm can it really do

dont wear glasses so the fish tanks look empty from far away. or you can place your hands so they block you from seeing left and right.

Go on....you know you wanna buy fish.....

My problem is I go into the LFS and say "just looking, not buying" and then see a fish the LFS has like NEVER had and I like REALLY want.....and if I don't buy it there and then it will be GONE and I will miss out and have MAJOR regret issues. And my fish will HATE me cause the fish in question would be PERFECT for the tank and then they will all get SICK and make me feel GUILTY. See, its easier to just buy the fish than think about the reasons why I shouldn't.
