Well i dont have any riccia so i tried a different approach, java moss.

well i didnt have slate or wood to spare so i used lego

and i didnt have hairnets so i used normal non toxic tread

well what i did was put little dents all over the sides of the legos (the flat pieces that you get in set-ups, the ones that u build on) there long and thin and then i put some java moss on the lego pieces

then once i had spread out my java moss on one side of the lego i started keeping it down with the thread i had by using the dents in the lego.

and walla!

same thing as Jimboo (i hope i only did it on the 5th of january, 2006) but with things i had lying around the house

ill tell you how it goes!

no pics though

hi blackfinshark_3, i know the lego thing you mean. should be perfect.

it does take a little while to fill out, i'm sure you noticed but at the bottom of my thread i've got pics of my java moss carpet with timescales for the pics so you know what to expect over the next few weeks.

i hope it works out for you.

jimbooo

Hmm, very resourceful blackfinshark!
I would have assumed the lego peice would have floated to the top of the water, you know with it being plastic and all. Guess not. Cant wait for the pics to come in so we can see the progress

lol oddly enough the lego was cemi floating so i had to dig the edges into the sand
