Hello,

I'm currently treating white spot with Protazin and, as instructed, am treating on days 1,2,3 and 6.

However, having followed advice to raise the temperature of the tank in order to speed up the parasite's life cycle, have the makers of Protazin allowed for such things.

Or, should I dose on day 5 to allow for a faster life cycle?

Thank you.

Martyn

Whitespot is one of those pain in the backside occurences that most aquariasts suffer at some point. There are many treatments avaliable, most instructions are very similar, but in my experience it is best to follow the makers instructions, as this way you can avoid overdosing or stressing the fish too much.

Protazin is the best thing ive ever treated white spot with. Ive seen a few pet shops recomend treating with it when you introduce Clown Loach, but at half strength.
Follow the instructions, it works brilliant

Ich treatments are always used by following the instructions. The temperature rise does indeed speed up the life cycle, which is what allows you to treat for a shorter period of time. Don't forget that you must continue to treat for a few days after the last spot is gone from the last fish. The medications all work on the free swimming stage of the parasite and that does not exist until a spot drops off the fish and returns to a free swimming stage a day or two later. If you miss treating at that point in time, you get to start all over again.
