I'm sitting in a hotel in central Africa close to the end of 2 weeks of exploring for fish. I can tell you that going to see where the fish you like come from is an incredible education. There are many things I've believed about various species and their aquarium care that haven't stood up to actually seeing the habitats. I have to increase the flow from my filters, to start.

I'll be glad to get back home although every day here has been fascinating. Good people, good places, good fish and very bad roads...

This is what I mean by visiting areas where certain aquarium fish originate from. I've done this a number of times. And your vision on aquatics will change after doing this. Glad, that you've experienced other things as well. To me , this gives a person a better vision on how things work in the aquatic world than trying to learn things out of a book (or internet).

Wow what an adventure - need a full write up when you get chance. Trying to trick my family into a trip to Costa Rica at the moment haha 😂
