Anyone know what is the best way to transport fish or where I can get those big plastic bags that the fish stores use when selling you the fish?

if you go to your lfs
and ask them for a few bags
they normally oblige if not
just ask them if they will sell
you some when i used to do the auctions
i used to by my bags there i used to bag
any were between 50 to 100 fish when i
used to go to auction and i don't even think
i lost a single fish

Also most shops will be happy to give you the poly boxes too, you might need to ask in advance so that they keep one back for you after the next fish delivery.

for my 6hour drive back to uni i used a large plastic box approx 50litre but with about 25litres of water in and i had an air pump in it an spare water in bottles just incase i wanted to change the water half way and to help with the transition from very hard water to very soft water. I also put a clean bin liner around it to block the light and a peice of bogwood that wedged in tightly (tight is important because it will move around otherwise) i then wrapped some towls around it.

It held temp brilliantly, drop by 2 degrees Celcius and all of the fish survived. it had 12 embers 5 precilla tetras and 15 corys a bamboo shrimp and a clown plec. I kepy my albino red tailed shark in a large back that was in a 'cool' bag

In summer I use a bucket with tight fitting lid or tupperware containers. In winter I wrap them in bubble wraap and put in freezer bags fro Iceland. Cooler boxes are great for big fish or large numbers.
RE polystyrene boxes, fishmongers often have them though they might smell a bit fishy and would adivise sterilising with boiling water in case of disease.
