so i might be getting fish today, but im gonna be with my girlfriend, and the town is about an hour away, so where gonna be there a while. we were gonna eat first, then look at the fish places. get a fish maybe, and then go to the movies which is 30ish mins away, then after the movie, go home which is another 30ish minutes. how would i go about doing this???

i know when me and my friend got a fish, he lives 30 mins away from me, and i live an hour away from the town. he got his fish in a 5 gallon bucket thing, and kept it in there over night with an airstone thing. but not one on either of the trips we/he made. and i really couldnt have an airstone in the car cuz theres no plugs and i dont have a converter...

were gonna be in the car. its a drive in movies. so, it wont get too cold or hot. well maybe too hot....jkjk! no, but yeah, would they be ok in a 5 gallon bucket just for the trip home, then immediately acclimate them and put em in the tank?? and i have a 33 gallon with a few fish already, so it wont be anything too big or anything that can jump out....maybe jump out, but i can shop around those fish or something....

get the fish last or dont get them atall honestly its cruel to leave a fish in a bucket while you sit in the cinema just wait till tomorow i wouldnt get fish if you arnt going to take em hom straight away

well see, i never go to this town much. and its the closest ish store...besides walmart. which we all now isnt too good and not a good selection... i honestly would do it another day, but i dont know when id be there again. maybe at the end of the month, but again, the reason im going is in the evening after all the stores close...

plus, im scared to go there anymore cuz i got a 222 dollar ticket the last time... i speed. im trying to controll... but still. hate going there now...

As long as you can regulate the temperature the fish will be fine in bags for many hours. This means a cooler or styro, well sealed, with a way of regulating heat. For shipping heat packs are used in cooler weather, 24+ hours in transit.

In your situation, and one I like to use when transporting fish in the dead of winter, a fish bag filled with really warm tap water, then wrapped in a towel will keep the styro warm for a good 4 hours. In the summer keeping them cooler is required, keeping the cooler or styro out of direct sunlight & out of a sealed up car is all that is needed.
