transferring some of my prolific cherry shrimp to another tank today... netting out 2 nets

so I put algae cookies in a medium sized net, and let it sit a couple hours, and transfer all that go into the net... got impatient on the 1st net, as I was filling well water, to top off the tank, it fills from. 1/4 inch line, and takes a long time to add much, I forgot about it doing other things , and over flowed a little, so I grabbed what was on the net, about 6 after only 10-15 minutes

Good show! As long as the new tank water is close to their old, they should be fine.

smaller algae disks that look cookie sized to silver dollar / angel fish sized fish... my dollars pick them up, and carry them around munching on them... technically 8 mm algae wafers

I have my y red cherrys in a well planted 5.5 and my blue dream ones in a well planted 15. When I need to collect some I so so with a siphon. I have sever sizes which run from airline to 1/2 in ID. I use the bigger one. I siphon them into a bucket and from there they becoe easy to net.

I have way to many of he resd but do no seem to nav them to sell for some reason. The colony has been in there now for about 15 years. I did give a way a 10 to the youngster who come to the club meeting. But that was much earlier in the year.

I find netting amanos to be easier than the Neo. davidi as they amanos are bigger. But they jump more and both higher and further. i do have a shrimp net which is similar to a brine shrimp net but about twice the depth. When the amanos are in the bottom I can clasp the net closed above them and the cannot ump out.

My buggest problem is they like to munch on stuff in the pre-filter I have on hang-ons and I almost always nab a shrimo or two when I net the pre-filyrt when I removev the intake. They wind in in the bucket and I catch and return them to the tank.

<y technique with the siphon is I put a finger over the end in the bucket after I start the flow. That wat I can hover over shrimp and remove tha finger and that works prett well.

My sump is the same it has hundreds if not thousands of the things only put about 5 in 5 years ago
