Transferring Algae?

Since evacuating everyone (but especially the Hypoptopoma) out of the Rio240 due to the very aggressive Lionhead Cichlid parents, algae growth on the glass is rife. Conversely, neither the Korall60 or Nelly's old 540l tank have any visible signs of such growth.

I'm wondering if there is any better way of promoting growth in the other two tanks quicker than wiping a cloth or paper towel across the Rio tank's glass and then simply "dumping" them in the other two tanks?

This is mainly for my Hypoptopomas' benefit, as they are prolific algae eaters and they have not appeared to eat much since being evacuated (I've tried blanched courgette and cucumber, plus omnivore tablets which they do nibble on a little). My Panda Garras did used to enjoy some glass-clinging algae in the Rio too, not to mention my Synodontis brichardi is mainly a veggie too (I leave him/her several algae tablets every evening).

Not sure on moving it from the glass to the other tank but you could put a few big rocks in the tank for algae to grow on and then move them one at a time to the other tank so theres always 1 rock with algae in the 540L.

Sorry Ian, I have no idea on the types, all I know is that while my Panda Garras and "Giant Otos" Hypoptopomas were in there, the tank was looking great. However, it now looks like this after just one week with just the Lionheads in there (out of nowhere mum finally became paranoid about the Hypoptopomas grazing on algae within 6 inches of her young)...

looks like GDA (green dust), low C02, low nutrients. After reading what Tom Barr did to eredicate this algae, you'll nee to do the opposite. He left the algae to take its course, after about 20 days of not touching it, it comes to an end. So, you'll need to keep wiping it off you glass to keep it going. For some reason it only attatchs to glass. Keep nutrients and C02 low in your new tanks and it should start to appear.

Hmm, I have noticed that my CO[sub]2 [/sub]ladder is not working so well in recent days, as the bubbles are not shrinking to tiny things by the time that reach the top of the ladder. Maybe I should can the relative positions of the Koralia 1 powerhead and the ladder, so there is a bit more current to saturate the tank water with carbon dioxide?

I do have a bottle of Easycarbo I could use, but I'd rather keep that for the Korall60 if possible.
