AFter a marathon weekend I have set up a new 130gallon tank. The culmination of a years planning !

The filter that I have attached has been running on my old 50 gallon tank for 8 months alongside the original filter, so has built up the required bacteria.

Is there any reason why I cannot start transferring the fish to the new tank straight away ?

I am more concerned that the original filter still attached to the old tank will not have the required bacteria to cope with an increased workload, and that the bacteria in the filter transferred to the new tank will not have enough ammonia/nitrites to feed the colony.

Any helpful advice appreciated.

Oliver

THe tank must cycle. Must do some water test. I t happened to me i moved my fish from 10 gal to the 29 gal tank after 1 week all the fish that u added where dead.

If you've got a test kit then just check that your nitrite and ammonia reads 0. If they do, then you are fine to start transferring fish. Only add a few at a time over the next week and they should be fine.
