Tough Decision Between Coldwater And Tropical - Please Help

Fancy goldfish in the uk wouldn't survive the winter in a pond.
Tonight where I am it's -1 & it gets much colder at times.
I have comets & shubunkins in a pond & they do ok as they're hardier, they survived a winter with -15 temperature

Ah ok, that does make a difference, but as soybean says, they may have a problem competing for food

Otos aren't a type of plec, and unless you have an algae problem to start with, of fresh green algae growth all over everything, they're really not the best option for first tropical fish. They're a bit picky.

What about a gourami of some sort for in the middle of the tank, maybe a male dwarf, or a trio of honeys.

You could always get amano shrimp to eat leftover food and whatever algae might come up

Signs up in your local fish stores
See if a store will take it for you

I'm sure you'll come up with something.

I named my goldfish sushi, now he is big enough to be sushi, he is probably around 9-10 inches now

Okay, what should I do about the thermometer sticker? I want to remove it but it might leave sticky residue and hurt the fish?
