I had a betta in an 8 gallon tank with 4 amano shrimps. It used to be a divided tank with two bettas but one died a couple of weeks back. The last time I saw him was probably 3 days ago. My 8 year old usually feeds him.

When I looked this morning, he had totally disappeared. I have moved every ornament and plant and he is definitely gone.

Is it possible that he died and the shrimps ate him?

Has he jumped out look around the tank area on the flloor.
Do you have any pets in the house.

It's possible that the shrimps ate him but i wouldn't think that they could polish him off in 3 days. I'd check on the floor around/behind the tank. Bettas are jumpers and if given the opportunity, will leap to their deaths.

If you can't find his body anywhere on the floor then I would say he has been consumed by the shrimps. Dead fish decompose rapidly, this is aided by the other tankmates, who will nip at the corpse until virtually nothing is left.

The tank has a tight lid, he couldn't jump. I have checked anyway, no sign. I guess he is now a late fish :(

If you have gaps in your tank lid they can jump out.
If he did jump out and you have pets they have be know to eat fish.
If you checked the filter and tank sounds like the shrimp have eaten him.
R.I.P.
