Tortoise On My Backyard

so one day a tortoise walked into my backyard, we had the door open and since then it has not left our backyard. we have 6 years with him. he gets along with our aquatic turtles. maybe a little to friendly with one of them. but he kinda acts like a dog. every time eh feels hungry he will go scratch the door for food. he follows me arounf everywhere and if he thinks someone will cause me harm, he growls at them. which before having him, I had no idea tortoise could growl. I still wonder if he belives he is a dog..
