Hey guys
What's your opinion on mixing coldwater with tropicals?
I was wondering if I could add a few black moors to my community trop tank?
Any help appreciated

Mark

Black Moors will be very prone to being fin nipped, and as full grown Rugby Ball sized adults, most "community trops" would find themselves on the menu... The increased heat will turn already messy fish into realy bad poop machiens. It can be done in some cases, but it is far from advisable, due to sizes of the fish, the mess, the shortened fifespan of the goldies and the goldfishes tendancy to eat ANYTHING with the only provisor being that luch mush first pass through the mouth

All the best

We quite commonly mix cold water fish with tropicals. An example is the white cloud mountain minnow which is a cold water fish. A cooler water type of fish that is found in many tanks is most, not all, species of Corydoras. The typical maximum for many of them is only 24C, 75F. As long as the fish are compatible and the temperature ranges overlap it can be done and often is done. the goldfish is not incompatible so much because of the temperature since many of the tropicals can be comfortable at temperatures that goldfish would also like. As Rabbut said, they are incompatible because of size differences.
