To Treat Or Not To Treat

I don't plan on getting any more fish for a long long time.

I use the heater with no problems in my 5.5 gallon. It's pretty pricey. About $30 for it at least. I was told I could go large in the tank with the type I bought because it's designed in a way it will just turn on shorter amounts of time vs. being in a larger tank. I have no issues and I have fish that will suck on it.

It's a marineland Shatter proof heater. Fully submersible.

I really haven't looked into much with the 29 gallon because as I mentioned, primary concern is moving out. XD If it boils down to it I'll buy another or one even larger and just dish out the money. At least that way I know I have a stand/hood/etc.

It still has the price tag on it with upc number. I used the app on my phone and scanned it and it's an All Glass Aquarium Oak trimmed fisk tank. The year on the tag under the tank is 2004. I have a feeling someone may have bought it and ended up storing it away. the seals are perfect and everything. it looks like nothing ever lived in it really

ok yeah like your saying moving out #1 priority for now. and if you want you can actually buy a kit at petco that runs for about almost 200$ it has everything-stand. you dont really need one, it just has to rest on a even surface that is really sturdy, my 55 is on a book shelf lol. id still use the heater you have when tranfering as the kit heaters arent that great, just real basic.

p.s. if you get the kit DO NOT follow any of the paphlet advice! its a bunch of bull.

I hear advice full of crap at Petco all the time. Things like "don't put a beta in a tank. They want slow waters so a bowl is best." Maybe they /do/ but a tank is better. When I went to petco for some ICH medicine the woman there was pointing out herbal stuff to "treat" the tank. It reminded me of herbal essences for fish. My fish don't need a conditioning or swimming in some fancy herbal tea. when I asked her what the store uses to treat their tanks with ICH she stood there and did the whole, "Uhhh...I think this?" And showed me something called ICH Attack that looked pretty useless. Then she scurried off saying she couldn't help me anymore and she was a manager. They no longer carry chemicals because people were overusing them and because they went "green". Pfft. I drove next door to walmart and got the medicine I needed.

actually that stuff works pretty well, i stopped seeing ich after the second dose and when the medicating time was up i just popped the cartridge back in and havent had problems since, and i have a catfish. only downside is that it stinks like dog crap.

almost any chain store has really unknowing employees, but once in a blue moon you get one thats into the hobby themselves andknows what they are doing.

Hmmm. I read reviews on it and most people didn't have much luck with it. So far I like the Malachite Green/Formalin mix I have. It's pretty harsh unfortunately for the fish, but they're tolerating it extremely well and I've already noticed a decline in the number of flecks on the fish. Just did the second treatment. 2 days from now I am doing the next then doing their water change.
