To Many Fry!

Hi all,
I currently have 2 Bristlenoses in my 29g and they keep on spawning, the second batch of around 20 fry emerged from the cave around 2 weeks ago, today when I returned from school I noticed that the male is back fanning the area around the cave again, I can't see in it but this is what he did the last two times when they spawned. I was really excited at the first batch, but now I am a bit worried that my tank is going to become horrifically overstocked very soon . Is there a way to deter them from spawning, without separating them or making them unhappy. Or will I just have to sell the babies? I was planning on waiting until the fry got to around 1.5 inches before selling/giving them away. Do you guys think I will be able to sell them or will the have to be free to a good home? If so how much do you reckon they would go for at the size they are now (1st batch are around 1 inch, second batch are about half an inch )?

you could try and off load some at a lfs i get store credit from 1 and cash from another for my corys

if you want to stop them from spawning remove the cave

Would removing the cave not stress them?

I very much doubt that would work - mine spawned on the side of a piece of slate!

Perhaps introduce something that might eat the fry?

Separate them? Can't breed if they can't get together.

Mine spawned behind a box filter. If you see eggs that you don't want, just remove them. Your fish will be fine.

How would I remove the eggs, the 'cave' in a small crevice in a piece of mopani wood which I can't really remove with destroying the tank layout. Should I just shift the male off then scoop the eggs out out?

Most Lfs that ive come across take the bristlenose between 1 inch - 1.5 inches +. The best thing you can do is either take the male of female out or buy another tank to use as a fry tank.

Be warned though my bn's started off with 20 from each spawn and now each spawn is well over 100. So eventually you will be overun and overstocked if you dont split them up.

Well, if you remove anything they can spawn *in* (like the cave), then anywhere else they decide to spawn should be easier to syphon the eggs out from.

Will the eggs just come off if I siphon them? Or are they actually stuck to the wood?

Yes they will be stuck but its really easy to dislodge them - if you chase the male away and get a scraper and scatter the eggs the rest of your fish will gobble them up.
