Tips For Hiding Heater...

I have mine hidden behind some plants and some wood, it's just easiest.

im going to still try my bogwood idea...and maybe use two heaters in the tank to help with distribution...if that doesnt work then i will just silicon the suction cups to the glass...thanks guys

I haven't done it yet but I'm contemplating making a tube out of the pottery in my sig cutting a bunch of holes in it then cutting it in half. Then I would silicone it to the glass around the heater. Haven't worked out all the kinks yet but if your interested let me know and I'll try to make one for you.

Funny you brought this up. I just assembled my Lifegaurd modular filter. It has a chamber for my heater so I can keep it in the stand.

An cheaper alternative in that they now have an inline heater on the market. I havn't heard anything about it yet so I'm not sure how reliable they are.

Hydor ETH In-Line Heaters

I have two of the Hydor on my tank and think they work great. Although the thermostate clicks on and off quite loudly. Some people on here say they have had promblems with them and they are apparentley ment to be going disscon, but I persoanlly give them the thumbs up.

Be very careful not to interfere with the convection of the water coming off the heater. You don't want the water in the tube getting warm and the thermostat going off, when the rest of the tank is freezing cold.

Thanks for the advice. My plan is to put a whole lot of very small holes in the tube. That way water will flow through the piece but fish won't be able to swim into it. I'm a little worried about the pottery retaining heat. I'd have to do a few experiments before I'd be happy with it.
