Hello,

Thanks for reading
Eigdoog :good:

have you tried hand feeding him, thats what i do with my 2, not that they are slow but they seem to know that they can take 3 sticks then it gets chucked in so they may aswell wait about lol, cant imagine an oscar being slow to feed, bless him, he sounds really sweet
shelagh xx

lol thanks  my "slow" oscar, well when he see's the food he really goes for it but everything elsa in the tank just beats him. i would never hand feed him as i tryed it once and wanted to eat me  so i just kinda drop food in. there is alot in the tank.

1 Oscar (10 Inch), 5 Silver dollars (Full Grown), 3 Tin foil barbs (Half Grown), 4 Parrot fish (1 Full Grown, 3: 5-7 Inch), 1 Golden severum (Half Grown 6 Inch),1 Kissing Gourami (Full Grown), 3 Lake malawi (I think) (4-6 Inch), 3 Plecostomus (1: 3-4 Inch, 2: 12+ Inch),

but the barbs are fast at eatting and are becomeing fat, you know like a dog if you just keep giving it food.

Also my Kissing gourami has not had anything to eat from the day i got it and it dont kiss... i have had him for about 6-8 months now ish now and never moves  why do i always get the fish that are slow and upset :( he went from the owners tank (3ft) to the shops tank (4ft) to my tank (4ft) then to my big tank (100 gallon) and has never eaten. my lsp shop said he dont eat and is upsetbut his old owner died i got told  so....yeah, i dont know why im adding this but you seem nice to tell about my carzy fish.

I have 3 Tinfoils too. They are ravenous eaters and I swear they gonna jump right out and smack into me one day !

I get freeze dried shrimp (krill I think it is). They are big whole pieces. My Severum knows what they are and gets very excited ! Wave it in front of him, move your hand up top so he puts his mouth up there waiting and drop it.

Other than that I feed flakes, once per day. My filter provides quite a current so they float all over the tank and the other fish manage to get some too.

try feeding the tinfoils at one end of the tank, wilst entysing the oscar to the other end!!!!!!!
this is what i do with my fish as the oscars are so bloomin slow,,,,manyana manyana>>>>
it took me about 4days to do this and the oscars reconise when iam at the end with the blue pot that its dinner time and they go mental like dogs,,,however if i go with a different pot the dont even bother

alot of my fish want to jump out i think...when it comes to feeding them other than that they dont want to know me lol.

i feed all the tank with
Cichlid Excel Medium Pellets made by Hikari

now and again but rare i feed them with freeze blood worms, they love it but i have to wait till they all come lose or just 3 or 4 fish eat and the rest dont lol

Can i buy diet food so that i feed them the same but they dont get bigger? im not trying to make them big fast but thats the way theys are going.

I have tryed going to one end but there are so many fish in there they all want some, i need a bigger tank i think.

I have a 75 gallon. The Tinfoils have grown very fast and I will have to rehome them someday as they will still be too big.

Try feeding Cichlid flakes. The flakes disperse thru out the water better and gives more chance for the others to eat. Feed them a mix flakes/pellets, that way you have some floating and sinking at the same time. Also, if you feed the small pellets it will take them a little longer to gulp them up.

LOL sorry...I read this and could not stop laughing.....not about your fish not eating, but if there is someone you can talk to on here it SHELAGH...shes great....!!!

Also my Kissing gourami has not had anything to eat from the day i got it and it dont kiss...have you got just the one? Thought they liked kissing with other kissing gourami's :P :P I am sure if you ask Shelagh nicely...she will come and give it a kiss?

of course i will, no trouble at all .......eeeeeeewwwwww , and they do kiss other kissing gouramis, i had 2 they were quite big, when i first started, but i murdered them with nitrites as it was when i first started and didnt know what i was doing, i saw a huge pair in the lfs on monday, and i mean huge, but i just dont have the tank space for them now,and im not upsetting the boyz...

anyway debbs, you go and snog his face off!!! your nearer, as much as i would love to...

DONT YOU DARE laugh.........when i did a water change i put the bowl in the bottom to stop the sand from flying everywhere, i found buddie sitting in it, so i left it there and i put their peas in it yesterday and they were eating out of a bowl, its still in there, and next im going to show them how to use a napkin and train them to use a bell...

shelagh xxxx

welcum 2 my club!!!!!my spellings awful......

yes oscars will try to eat your whole hand if they feel like it
just dont feel scared and rip your arm out

""just dont feel scared and rip your arm out""

no, leave it there till they have finished off the little finger!!
jambo did have my finger once, didnt hurt tho ( im very brave), but i think it was my finger he was after as ive never seen him miss his food yet!.
i have ripped my hand out on many occassion and it did frighten them, but my 4 year old does it and he never worries, tho i am not sure this was a good thing to start as he is stuffing them silly, but there is a 3 stick rule, this being the same 4 yr old that fed fairy cakes to my platy fry at 3 days.. i only wish i had room for more oscars,i went back to my lfs on monday and the ones that are left there seem so small, and there are abour 10 of them all cramed into a 40 liter tank, or not much bigger, all with chunks taken out of them, i wish i could have had at least 2 more but, the boyz would go mental i think, and if they didnt get on i would have to part with them as i dont have another tank sufficent for them
(( secretly hoping Nelly will say... go on shelagh, 2 more is fine ))
but its great to hear he feeding from the hand, as i think they are the most sociable fish i have come across, keep it up,and if they are anything like mine... insist the tv goes of at meal times

shelaghy xxxx

i just tryed to hand feed my oscar and every other fish came up and just took the food, so i got a bit and made sure oscar was goin to have it.
