Time For A Rethink

ye they do look totally different i kinda growing on me. i like the look of cardinals and rummy noses aswell hmmm .. but ye cichlid wise deffo want 1 severum, 4 rams then 1 more cichlid but i dont know what though some have suggested blue acara but i heard they can be aggressive also i wouldn't mind keeping my convict that ive grown from my own fry to 4/5" sad to see him go if he has too

I think you'd get a lot more movement out of the rummy tetras.

My port acara is getting there slowly, he's about 4-5" now, he's a bit of a moody sod though...he likes his cave and tries to attack anyone that gets too close, except for the firemouth, who happily gives him a flash and puts him back in his place. No casualties in the last few months, it's more gesturing than anything else.

As far as a Blue Acara You don't know what you'll get temperament wise, if you want to try a blue acara it isn't such a bad proposition as "generally" they are known to be fairly calm. So long as the fish gets on with the others it will work, you wont know that though unless you try.....

IMO it would be nice to stick to south american only if you can

hey ye i think i will go for rummy noses what fish are not SA that ive mentioned so far, also you got a good site that tells you all the SA fish? and would snails be ok in there the ones that dont eat plants ? also what would you put in instead of a blue acara ?

I would stick with a blue acara if you can get one, it might well be fine...

I mention SA only as although the cichlids in your list right now are SA you were talking about another fish instead of a blue acara...

ah right yeye ye i think i want to do a bio type what other fish could i get though also what types of rams are there out there?

only 2 types of rams, mikrogeophagus ramirezi and m. alitspinosus. i dont think ur proposed severum would appreciate the temp. required for blue rams. though u could possibly try apistogramma spp. and/or some dwarf acaras (laetacara, nannacara etc.) with a severum (dont know much about a sevs aggression)

festivums, keyhole cichlid, angelfish, other medium sized acaras from krobia or aequidens or andinoacara

not sure of the size of ur tank but perhaps there are some larger earth-eaters u could consider too?
