So i have a 5 gallon tank with three guppies and I tiger snail. I got my snail because I notices some alge(?) was staring to build up. This little guy keeps everything in check but my question is should I give him some of those waffer things every now and then? There's not much alge in my tank because he always gets it I just don't know who much these snails are suppose to eat so I don't want to starve the poor thing.

What is your lighting period like?

I'd put in a bit of algae wafer at least once a week.

I usually soak it in pieces and then squish it with my fingers to break it up more, since the fish my snails are in with will eat them too.
This seems to get all over the tank so there is some left for the snail to get to. :)

Well I turn my light on when ever I wake up (which it varies because my classes don't start at the same time throughout the week so sometimes 8ish sometimes 9ish) but I turn the light off around 10 or 10:30

I asked about the lighting period because it could be part of why you're getting algae. Most people leave their lights on 6-8 hours.

If you can I'd get a timer. You can set them to go on for a few hours, and then be off while you're at school, and back on when you're home :)

You should definitely have enough algae in your tank to support 1 snail, algae wafers are used mainly as a supplement to their diet but I find my 2 snails don't even look near them
