One of my favorite Asian barbs... They are in perfect harmony with my butterfly splitfins (Ameca splendens)...
Tiger barbs...
Barbus tetrazona tetrazona
Barbus tetrazona
Puntius tetrazona
Capoeta tetrazona
Systomus sumatranus
Systomus tetrazona
Systomus sumatrensis

I've got also the green and albino ones...

Actually the currently accepted name is Puntigrus tetrazona and all the names you listed are considered junior symonyms. That said, the identity of the aquarium strain of Tiger Barb is somewhat of a mystery. It does not match the taxonomic description of any of the 5 Puntigrus species including P. tetrazona. Whether that is the result of a century of intensive fish farming producing mutations, or there was an early hybridization of stock, is unknown. Here's an article about it.

Glad to hear they are living in harmony with each other and the Ameca. That is unusual. I currently have the mild-tempered P. partipentazona and enjoy them immensely.

Well, as you now, it has changed so often by now... And yes, something doesn't add up... We've been discussing it among other tiger barb owners.

Puntigrus was erected in 2013. As things go in taxonomy. that's a long time and it is universally accepted from everything I read. I think that since the huge catch-all genus, 'Puntius,' was blown up in 2012, things in barbs have settled down quite a bit, taxonomy-wise.

I kind of favor the Albino Tigers since I added 3 of them to my tank with the Tigers. I like the slight white stripes on the salmon color, they stand out with my black gravel. Stan, your Green look great, but haven’t seen them around my neck of the woods!
