Tiger Barbs And Angels

I went to a not so LFS and bought some boesemani today. Chatting to the shopkeeper, he said tiger barbs would be ok with angelfish, contray to what most people say. He said this is a common misconception and it's only the guppies and betta that the barbs tend to nip, and not the angels. Is that correct?

Imo i would not take the risk of mixing the two species, i have a blue acara cichlid with 14 tiger barbs and they will have a nip at his fins now and again. Tiger barbs just have a thing for long trailing fins.

Thanks Keith. How big is your acara compare to the tiger barbs? I am looking for a medium size cichlid for my tank.

He's still a baby at 6-6.5cm and the barbs are about 1.5-2cm.

Thanks Keith. At least I know I can keep a "peaceful" medium size cichlid with my barbs. Mine are similar size to yours, and I have 12 of them.

Agree, and as for those tiger barbs lovely looking fish but there little bullies.
