Thought My Mrs Wasnt Bothered About Fish

well had my main malawi tank up and running about 3-4 months, and my two others a few months. i ramble on about fish and tanks,filters etc quite alot to my mrs and i was sure it went in one ear and out the other....i was wrong.
a couple of friends came over for dinner last night and we sat down at the table infront of the tank. one friend said "omg that sucky thing is horrid" my mrs (to be) was like oh thats our sailfin plec. then she continued to find the fish thats holding and said "thats the female ndumbi red top who is holding" she then explained why one male was brighter than the other and why they shase each other around
maybe soon she will help with water changes........NOT!! lol

I get the following;
You and them bleeping fish.
Change the record.
I'm not interested.
Don't speak to me about fish
You look at them fish more than you do me
You take more care of them bleeping fish than anything else.
I'll tell you what, how about you just get inside the bleeping fish tank.

I cannot talk about plants or fish anymore to her, nevermind substrates, filters etc.

Then if we're in the living room when the kids are in bed, we usually sit in the dining room during the day, she'll turn round and say "his colours are really coming out" or she'll sometimes go and give them bloodworm.
I cannot comment when she says anything positive about them though or I'll go off on one and won't stop talking about fish. Then I get one of the comments stated above

at first she wasn't bothered but when the tank was actualy filled with substrate, rocks and lights on etc she was like oh cant wait to get fish in there. i must admit my mrs is pritty easy going, ive had about 5 cars in the last 3 years of being with her, i also spend £1200 on a big turbo which i destroyed a few days later, in car terms that didnt seem alot but im fish tank terms that a brand new 7 foot tank and oak stand and filters lol

Micko... I think our mrs' have been talking or something! Thats spookily like what i get on a daily basis haha

My mrs has only ever really liked 1 fish, and it was 1 of the 1st fish i ever bought, about 10 years ago, a platty. Thats it. She seems to like the 1's that I can no longer keep, like recently, I had to get rid of 4 silver dollars because they out grew my tank and i was planning of getting rid of the tank. And i told her about it, right up to the point of catching them to be transfered to their new home, and she said, "why are you getting rid of them?!?! I like those guys, the SHINEY guys are my fave" AAAHHHH!!!
And now, I have 3 clown loach (that should be a larger group I know), that I found a new home for as they will out grow my tank in a couple of years, and I no someone who keeps them. Same routine again..... told her about it for ages, usual response, what i say just bounces right back at me! Then when it was D day for the loach, she was like, "what are you doing NOW?" the cloun loach, remember? "What 1s are they?" the orange stripy 1s"... "WHAT!!! I really like them!!!"

My boyfriend thinks they look nice, but that's about it. He's happy to let me ramble on about fish after he discovered that a piranha tank is an actual achievable thing lol.

The only reason my OH would take it personally is that she would know I'd want to replace it.

I see a discus as your avatar garyspence, have you ever had the argument over wild caught discus and tank/captive bred? She says "I don't see the difference" even though I show her a picture of some WC discus compared to the ones in my tank.

my husbands the same.he likes fish but dont have much to do with them,apart from paying for them and travelling 4 hours to get my tank
now and again tho he will look at them.but i dont talk to him about them anymore.as i might as well talk to myself.he says all i ever talk about is the fish but i guess im getting him back after him going on in my ear about football although i cant stand it.

It all sounds sooo familiar but my wife has a notepad and pen and has been taking notes on how to do water changes when I go away with work. She is a good egg really. Still get told I obsess about getting the tank looking right with the right soaked wood and stocking and plants.

After a good afternoon messing with the tank then googling differant things I attempted to talk to my wife for her opinion (not that it mattered anyway as my mind was set, but I tried for politeness) and she yelled I DO NOT GIVE A #59### ABOUT THE FISH RIGHT NOW SHUT UP!
