My fish DONT DO getting sick....and ill be damned if they are going to start now.

Go Pete, you beat it outta em

Sorry mate, happens to all of us sometimes, Im sure they will be ok.

go peter ,go peter.. you have my sympathy you really do, i thought jambo had pop eye this morning, i was sick with worry, turned out it was a bit of shell of a pea stuck on his eye  has made a miraculas recovery after 3 water changes and a top to toe clean

i really hope you beat this thing!
have you called the guy that you got the sev off to ask if the others have it? ( not that it realy matters now)

thinking of you and the boys
shelagh xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

fish are lookin a little better already, severum is still dark and miserable, but! hes eating so im not too worried, once the white spot has gone i will obviously keep the water perfect and he will recover find *fingers Crossed*

still not sure if i should put some melafix in tho

oh and thanks guys for the moral support!! i was a little worried that the fun police were going to close this, as there were two mods on this one within about a minute!!! lol

but thankfully, as long as we stay to topic on this one.....it could be my first thread not to get locked LMAO.

as a part of whitespot? are the fins supposed to go pretty rough looking?

just also thought, i left carbon in my fluval 305????? will this have eaten the meds???

Remove the carbon, yep it will have removed the meds, do a 30% w/c and dose again.

No those are your ceramic media, leave them in, just remove the carbon :good:

well i did a 50% waterchange yesterday?

im a bit nervous about adding more meds the day after i added the last lot??

But if you have active carbon in your filter, you would have lost the meds, thats why Im saying do a water change to be sure, then re-dose as though you are starting the course again.

I have always removed the carbon in my filters whenever treating my tanks but I have recently been fighting a bout of fin rot with Maracyn I and II and while looking over the included booklet, I noticed that it says that if the carbon is more than 6 days old then removing it is unnecessary. Is this the case? If so, why? Does the carbon really lose it's effectiveness after 6 days?

Yeah carbon does basically squat after a few days. I never run it in my filters. I only use it too remove meds from the water, when I use it I just put it in one of those thin nylon socks that you get for free at shoe stores. Then just drop it in the tank and toss it a few days later.
