I'd just like to mention at work today we sold our very last bowl from old stock that won't be ordered in again now.

having said that though there's still a couple of tanks i despite selling which are the fish r fun range. they tend to be from 10-30l on the smaller tanks i hate. but once again the very small ones are last of the stock as the company stopped making them.

i also don't tend to sell common goldies for tanks.

Aquatic Habitat doesnt sell any tanks under 30L... As this is considered to be the minimum size for a properly established tank. The smallest tank is the standard Bi-Orb, and then there is the Aqua40 range, The Juwel Rekord 60s and so on.

I think its rediculous really that shops still sell bowls or tiny tanks...Obviously there is a demand for small tanks, but not these cheapo gimmic tanks, proper all glass small tanks, for keeping killies, or a betta or other small fish or invertibrae.

Why do they always say goldlfish with these little tanks, it's so annoying, how can you educate people when companys saying  a goldfish can be put in them, more goldfish deaths.

the stupid thing is, on 1 of these small tank boxes we sell you can make out a picture of an oscar in there!!

persoanlly i hate the bi-orbs as the filtration is quite simple crap, the filtration on this litle tanks we sell are pretty good actually. in the hood there's like a tuper-ware of filter media, the water is pumped up with a water pump not by air lift and then gets pushed through the box then just drops make into the tanks creating a good aeration as well.

We tend to sway people towards tropicals, as soon as they realise they can have more fish there well up for it.

Most people don't give a dam though and don't listen to any advice on slow stocking the cycling of the tank etc etc (i'm sure you'll soon realise that bunjiweb)

That might be fine for ONE goldfish...

Goldfish are only 18 cents at my LFS since people usually buy them in groups of 20+ as feeders

One goldfish need at least a 20gal, and an excellent filter as they are big waste producers.

...One goldfish in 20 gallons? You have to be kidding me, that's such a waste.

But then again, this site is infamous for saying '2 tiger barbs requires at least a 200gallon pond, what are you thinking?!'

Honestly this is quite common knowledge my goldfish wouldn't even fit in that tank, I have three in about 40 gallons a divided 60 gallon tank and it seems small, but only for winter then we have a 300+ Gallon pond
,
EDIT- i believe this supports exactly recomended guidlines 20 gallons for one goldfish and ten for each aditional

these guidelines are for common goldfish, when keeping fancies it can be taken down slightly.

so right vantgE some of my goldies in the pond physically couldn't fit in some of the 'goldfish' tanks sold today.

There's a restaurant close to my house that has a tank with 6 fancy goldfish (think they were fancy-very beautiful). It's about 25-30 gallons. Last summer these fish were just babies and they looked quite comfortable. I went in there last week and these fish were huge! I had no idea how big they could grow and how fast. It didn't take years for these guys to get too big for their tank. They were swimming right into each other because of the lack of space except for one that was lying on the gravel looking like it was gonna die.

20 gallons is a waste for one goldfish. It take them forever to grow big and it would probably die before it ever reached it's full size.
I also have goldfish fry and estimate my goldies to be about three years old based on how both the large goldfish and the small goldfish have grown, Goldies are quite fast growers and would only die first if put in a tan that small

i dont think its a waste at all. its just like having a 75 gallon for 1 oscar, isnt that more of a waste cause its a bigger tank? and yeah, its 20 gallons for the first goldfish and 10 for each after that.

i think that's the point skylar is trying to make... that a 20g tank isn't even big enough for one goldfish to live in for its whole life, so why start with one? it really is the same principle as with oscars. you better love that sort of fish, because you won't be able to keep much else with it!

I think you guys maybe overreacting a bit, I feed those things to a piranna a few at a time so there are worse fates then what amounts to a square fish bowl.
