Thinking Of Giving Up The Hobby

I've had my 125 litre community tank for about 4 years now. It's seen quite a few inhabitants and one or two change overs. But I feel that I almost never sit and watch the fish any more. Even with all the lovely cherry red shrimp in there and the diversity in the tank I'm just a little bored by it. And I don't feel inspired to put the effort in for a changeover. Has anyone else gone through this? Or is it time for me to sell up and move on?

yeah mate,we all go through this at times,maybe if your hearts not in it,then sell up and move on, you may return....if not hey hoe....however having a clean out and selling all the stock and starting a new canvas,something odd and new...alot are doing this now,some moving into channa aka snakeheads, some doing puffers and others going into cichlids..

I agree completely as time changes interests change. You can leave and comeback always or switch to a different type of fish maybe one less hardy and more rewarding?

my intrested changes from Triops to bettas to the normal community to puffers and now to cichlids, however ive not gotten rid of any, most have either gone to new tank or just passed, still....leave it for a few months and then go to your local lfs...you will be back in no time lol

I would keep the hardware for a while and only get rid of the contents of your tank. If in a few months you still don't feel like starting over, you can always sell your tank as well. My experience is however, that after a while, you will want to come back and just as Nelly says, maybe try something new....

Yeah definately keep all the gear, I felt like this a while ago and got rid of all tanks except one, I have now got two more! For myself it was finding fish to suit me. If you can store the tank safely somewhere once fish are gone it wont be any pressure and can leisurely think about restarting etc. Or alternatively, have the tank empty keep the filter running and feed the filter to keep it matured and cycled.
