my lfs has had some twig cats in for a while and im tempted with one. i dont have the proper name as i cant remember it
would 1 be ok in a 240L with denisonii barbs, tetras and silver dollars?

I cant see there being a problem. There are a few different types but most if not all will fit fine in your tank :good:

I have two Sturisoma in my tank and they are doing great had them about 4 months now and I think they are fantastic little fish, despite me having a lot of wood in the tank they still choose to hide behind the heater haha.

One thing I just remembered actually, be careful of Farlowella as they are known to just die about 10 months in captivity but if you find one that is about a year old go for it I believe this is down to some kind of neutrient or vitamin we are not able to provide in fish tanks. But the thicker bodied twigs and whips are pretty easy to care for IME :) I actually prefer these to regular plecs, with mine I get a lot more hanging from the twigs than the plecs - quite tempted to just go down the whiptail route with my tank instead of plecs

"Little" is relative, as most sturisoma species can hit 7"--many, more. If maintained properly, farlowella are easy fish to keep. Clean water, well stocked food supply (heavy emphasis on greenery), etc.

ive bought one today it was labelled as farlowella. strange/great looking fish and seems to have settled in my quarentine tank very well. they have had them quite a while in the lfs, i would say at least 2 or 3 months...
its about 5 inches long from its nose to tail but not sure of its age!
