since people on this site absolutly love giving advise i wanted to ask som questions about livebearers

which are the easiest to breed
how many should i keep
( ive got the breeding cage tingy) but how do you use it
do you just place the pregnant female in it ?
how long does it take for them to breed

If you want to breed livebearers, the best approach IMO is to have a separate tank for the female to go into with lots of fine leaved plants in that tank for cover. Done that way, you can put the female into the tank a week or more before the birth and let her settle in. The stress that some people worry about with breeding traps will not be there at all. Once the female has delivered her fry, you can remove her back to the main tank or, depending on the female, it may even be safe to leave her with the fry. That is what I ended up doing with this girl. The picture was taken day 18 after the birth. Right now I am working on a project to get pictures every couple of days between drops for posting with other people on this forum.

The common livebearers that you are likely to find average about 4 weeks to 6 weeks between delivering fry. There are others such as goodeids that take 8 weeks from when they become pregnant but a casual hobbyist is unlikely to come across them.

cool ive always wanted to breed fish but my cousin told me livebearer were the easiest because of reeding traps
