Well some may know i have my big oscar tank downstairs in front room but i have a case of MTS coming on.

My mrs has a betta/panda cory tank in front room but we are both thinking of a Rio 180 or 240 for the bedroom planted aswell as we love the amozon planted look.

WE both love discus but seeing as it will be a new tank seeded from my O tank filter i dont think discus would be a good idea for a while yet but we have both got a love of angelfish.

What kind of stocking would we be looking at for both the 180 and 240 versions?? Filter would be an external fluval 405 or similar

I'd be looking at a pair of angels in either tank as centrepiece fish, then a shoal of tetras and cory's for added extra. Throw in a nice piece of bogwood, sand and lots of plants you got a good tank in the making. Buy 6 juvi angels and let them grow and pair off, in theory the 240 could hold 2 pairs but I wouldn't do it as they would probably fight and generally not get along.

Rio 180 is roughly 47 USG and rio 240 is roughly 63 USG.

i was a fair bit out on my guestimates lol

I was going to go for cory's of some sort preferably a larger strain what kinsd of numbers for the cory's and tetras or something

Bogwood is a must, would play sand from argos work with some plant fertz added to get things going.

I think everyone uses argos play sand :p I know I do.

Depending on the tank I would go for 6-12 corys (and depending on species).

Again for the tetra depends on the tank you opt for and the species you choose, but if you choose 1 species (which I think looks better as 1 large shoal than lots of different species) then minimum of 12 up to 18 or so I would have thought could quite easily fit. I think the tetra I would choose would be cardinal, grow bigger than neons and are hardier.

Another fish I like and may be suitable for you is hatchet fish, a very good surface dweller but prone to jumping, make sure all holes are covered (Juwel tanks I know have a gap at the back where you can run intake/outflow tubes/wires without having the hood flaps up if you know what I mean).

If you get the 180, 8 angels would be fine ( no more than that). If you get the 240 you could have a maximum of 12.

I have a rio400 so know about the gaps (they are full of filter tubes on mine)

now ya see i was trying not to get too large but 12 in teh 240 would be cool

right well i got the rio 180 in the end as the 240 would have been too large for the space intended.

Its currently cycling with mature media from my Oscar tank so hopefully it'll be done quite soon.

Still in air about stocking though 8 angels would be nice with a shoal of Cory's, however i have a slight problem in that my mrs's betta tank is needed to house other tennants so i was thinking of puitting the betta's in the communtiy tank its 4 females and 1 male (yes they live in harmony!) but with angels i can see this going two ways either good or bad with the angels nipping betta's fins.

bettas couldn't survive my angel tank (tried twice). and i had only 4 juveniles at that time. long flowing fins = food i guess. not too sure about shorter fin variants like plakats.

it would be nice if you could get 8 wild angels (eg. altum angels). they look lovely in a group.
