Thinking Of A New Aps External Filter

hi just bought the 1000+
it is not as quiet as described at the moment and if you tip tp one side it does leak slightly
this could cause and air leak why its noisy any suggestions on this??

Ive got the 1400 and it's quitter than my fluval 403 and I shake the he'll out if it after a clean to get the air out...

No leaks good turnover bargain price

What more could you want

I had one and have to say in my opinion they are horrible. That said I guess it depends what your used to and what you find acceptable. First of all the pipework is very poorly put together and doesn't always fit flush. The worst thing was the amount of noise it generated. We have our tank in the living room and it could be heard over the TV and really became to much to live with.

I now run a Eheim 2217 which has been fantastic, almost silent and although more expensive is worth every penny. I would avoid APS if you intend it to be used in a room you actually live in, if it's just a fish room then I guess it should be fine.

I have an APS 1000+UV and I cant hear it over the air pump blowing bubbles in my daughters tank, but it is inside the cupboard of the tank stand. But even with the door open, I have to put my ear down to the filter to actually hear anything. Im very happy with it so far. And thier customer service is great, even replying to an email I had sent over the weekend, when I didnt expect a reply till the following week. I would say why not give them a shot, lots of people on here recommend them. for the price its worth it.

I would to add get the 2000 i have the 1000 and flow is poor once you add the 3 filter sponges all the noodles. The filter itself is great no noise from mine apart from a low hum would have another at that price. Lets not forget it cheap so the plastic hooke like the shepards crook is fragile but then again it sits on a tank for itlife people need to be a bit carfull is all

i have the exact same issue and im persuing a refund.. mine leaks a lot if i tip it! oh yeah, and the measurements on the website are incorrect, they dont include the pipes sticking out the top!

I have the 2000EF, love it, mine is very quiet and it isn't in the cabinet! I also sleep in the same room as my tank so noise has never been an issue!
Also mine doesn't leak as some others have said so maybe say something! Either that or it isn't on tight enough!

Decided to go with the TetraTec 1200 in the end. Only paid £50 for it from a fellow member of this site so i guess thats a bargain seeing as the RRP is around £140. I am astounded by how much media there is inside one of these filters. Makes the Fluval 205 look silly!! And it's about twice the size too! Literally only just fits thtough my cabinet door! Really liking the flow it's producing, an all round big improvement, especially seeing as it's SILENT!!!

well got my replacement aps 1000 today, totally different, no leaks adnd substantially quieter. Just need to sound proof my cupboard its in now as its booming a bit, but thats no fault of its.

Seems to be a clear two camps with APS Good & terrible, if like me and some others you got a good one it happys days for the money but getting a bad ones leaves a sour taste

im getting alot of cloudy slimey gunk coming out of my outlet pipe is this normal when running in a new external filter or is it something i should be concerned about?

yeah gave it a good clean through seems to build up in the pipe
have pulled the pipe through but still builds up its like sticky slime you get from
a ray?
