hi i have had my tank fishless cycling for a week now so its time to think fish for when my cycle is done
my tank is 90l the list below are the fish i like wot ones would you have and how many to stock tank

shoaling fish harlequin or black neon tetra

center piece fish a pair of german blue rams or gold rams or bolivian rams or if i can ever find them dwarf cockatoo cichlid

bottem feeders sterba cory or panda cory

Well, you're about 24 US gallons, so about 24" of fish body.l

German blue rams are supposed to be fantastic centerpiece fish, lots of personality. If we say 4" each at maturity then you're down to 16" after that pair.

Suppose you say 1.5" per cory (prob their supposed to be 2"..) but lets say 3 cories, so subract 4.5"... say 12" left.

This would leave you with a shoal of 6 rasboras or 6 black neons and either one would be great.

If you went with 6 rasboras, they are very hardy and would make a great first fish after fishless cycling, while you waited your 6 months or whatever for the water to mature for the other types, rams & cories.

The above stocking sounds great. If you have good filtration and you are prepared to do lots of water changes (25-50% weekly) you could probably add the black neons three or four months after the last of the other fish went in.

IMO neon tetras need a mature tank eg 4 months +, your stocking sounds good but i would go with harliquins instead of black neons as they are more suited to a newer tank.

that stocking sounds good i think i'll go for that do you think i could get away with 8 harliquins with weekly water changes

No, I would fully fishless cycle, even if it takes 2 months and then introduce the 8 harlequins and watch them fan open their fins and show their deep colors because the water is so good! (as opposed to putting them in during cycling and watching them have pale colors as their life is shortened from nerve damage!)

i did mean after the fishless cycle i want get this tank right

great! Its a pain waiting for the nitrites to drop to zero in 12 hours and then waiting through a qualifying week but the reward is obvious when you see how much the fish like the water!

yeah sounds like a sensibel mix of fish, leave out the rams in the initial stocking and stock to around 1" per gallon of the cories and harlequins, then aftre 6 months you can safely increase the stocking to around 1.5" per gallon and the tank will be mature enough for the rams as well so add them and maybe boostb up the shoal numbers of the other fish. :good:
