Hi, well after having frontosa for many years, I am thrilled at the activity of tropical fish but disappointed that I only got a 50 Us Gallon aquarium for my tropicals. I am so used to having jumbo fish that my tropical tank looks so empty even though it isn't. I need larger fish.I have a 125 and 220 for my frontosa. Now I am thinking, if I want to get an nice school of Bosemani rainbows I need to get a bigger tank. I am already soaking bio balls in my 220 so in 6 weeks or so I will have a nice colony of bacteria for my new tank. OK here is the question. WHat tank size should I be looking for if I want a nice school 5-8 bosemoni and perhaps a smaller school of dwarf rainbows, plus room for others . A friend is thinking about selling his 90 corner, I am not sure that would be any better than a 75 gallon. I am not sure if you are familiar with the brand but I have a rena filstar 3 canister filter that I would like to use, it is too powerful for a 50 gallon.
thanks

In the case of 'larger' fish (which I usually think of as anything over 3 inches long, having always kept smaller fish), I'd probably stay away from a corner tank, as they tend to be higher than they are long. I think a larger fish would be better in a long tank (at least three foot, preferably four). As you already have a canister filter, I'd go for something like an off-the-shelf ClearSeal 4ft (mine cost around £50), then buy an overtank luminaire. Well-planted, it would look fabulous with Boesmani and Dwarf Neon Rainbows. In fact, I'm seriously considering switching to Rainbows myself; you may just have edged me a little closer!.
