Was cleaning the tank earlier and didn't notice these red blocks of what look like eggs. I have two golden, one red and two brown apple snails in the tank and they didn't breed before so never assumed they would. The thing is, I've knocked them off the glass and they went into the water. I've heard they will die if they come into contact wuth water whilst they are eggs. Is this true?

Anyone able to help me out? The eggs were in the water for a max of 5 minutes. I expect they're dead.

I would say chuck em and let them start again. Once they start to lay eggs they won't stop. They look unsightly, but if the hatch you will love em! :D

I doubt it mate. They need to be a certain distance from the water and light, i would have thought that you would find it very hard to get it right and keep them there. You will have somemore in less than a week.

If they were in water for that sort of time there is chance and a slim one they can hatch but it would need so much more care now. I would pop them in the feezer for a day and then throw them away and wait for the next batch in a week or so :hyper:

Thanks for the help.

I'll have to read up on how to get them to hatch now.
