I watched this movie the other night, boy am I irritated that I actually spent money on this pretentious piece of crap.

There was so much hype over it, the critics loved it, and though I usually don't pay attention to that, the TV spots looked really interesting, so I rented it. In my honest opinion this movie was made just to win awards, not to be enjoyable to watch. It was almost three hours long, there was no dialogue for the first 20 minutes and probably only had a total of 45 min of dialogue in the entire movie. So much time was spent with loud overly dramatic music and people looking off into the distance. There wasn't even much of a plot, weird time jumps, no believable antagonist, and one of the stupidest endings I've seen in a long time. Don't get me wrong, Daniel Day Lewis played a very believable character and did an excellent job with what he had to work with, but the so-called story was horrible. This is probably the worst movie I seen in years, it took me two days to watch it. The first day I watched an hour and a half where absolutely nothing happened, I then forced myself to finish watching it two days later just so I wouldn't completely waste the money I spent renting it and in hopes that SOMETHING would happen. Nothing much did, though there was a little action in the last 15 minutes.

Excuse me for my rant. So has anyone else seen this, and what do they think?

I didn't care for it either. It was too dark and that made it uncomfortable and difficult to watch. I spent a good portion of the movie just waiting for it to be over. :/

guess i wont be watching that anytime soon then :)

I thought the movie was less than ok. But again, as with 'No Country for Old Men' I was very disappointed. With the hype and oscars I'd have thought both movies would be amazing! But the endings in both were so bad I would never recommend them.

Totally agree! Also agree with the loud soundtrack..it was as if the soundtrack held more importance than the dialogue..the music would lead me to believe that something bad was about to happen..but 99% of the time nothing did. Blah..Atleast I rented it from netflix so I didnt actually spend $5.00 on a rental.

There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men were probably two of my favorite movies that came out this year. The reason why they got such great reviews was because they were awesome, and you are all wrong. Both were very different from your traditional classic movies which is why they stood out. Real life doesn't always have a happy ending, which is why these movies were refreshing to the critics. You have to watch these movies with an open mind, and understand that sometimes you really can't have a happy ending. Another good movie was The Mist.

I thoroughly enjoyed No Country For Old Men, I thought it was a well written screenplay and very well acted. I even liked the ending, and I have no illusions about how real life works. I always watch movies with an open mind and I watch a lot of them, I simply didn't care for There Will Be Blood. This doesn't make me wrong, just a person with their own opinion, same as you.

I thought the Mist was excellent as well, I always buy whatever movies come out based on Stephen King books as I'm a huge fan. I think Frank Darabont did an excellent job with it (as both Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile were well done). And despite many others, I liked the ending as well, I felt it fit with the story. In fact, in the special features, Stephen King says he wished he had thought of the ending first, so very true to the author's vision.

Oh please..don't tell me my opinion is wrong. Thats just wrong. I'm happy you enjoyed the movies. I actually liked most of 'No Country for Old Men'..I just didnt like the abrupt ending and thought that the movie as a whole could've been done better. I will admit I was a little too harsh with my criticism of that movie. The not so happy endings is not what bothered me but the parts of the plots that were left unexplained. I loved the Mist and the ending to it (tho I wont go into detail about that so as not to ruin it for anyone!). I'm sure the books for all these movies are better and plan on reading them.

There Will Be Blood

That's what I said to my local council. Now I am being investigated by the anit-terrorism taskforce :(

 Maybe you could do a screening of the movie, by the time it's finally over they'll forget you even exist. :X

There will be blood for portraying this movie the way they did in the ads. I, too, was lured into watching it since I love DDL. I think he is a great actor and the clips they showed were powerful and moving. The ending...was ridiculous. The only part of that movie that was worth watching was that part..in the church...that was shown in the commercial ads.

Personally, I think the Best Supporting Actor award should have gone to Christian Bale for his role in 3:10 to Yuma. If you want to see a part well played.....ignore Russell Crowe and watch him. In addition, the bit part by Peter Fonda was done really well. SH

I saw it too! I thought the story line was interesting, but it was so dark...the ending was just crazy!
