The World's 2nd biggest illict trade is still thriving

I had a colleague who lives in southern England now that has a small(ish) organic farm. He turned one of his sheds into a summerhouse including roof windows, central heating etc and he keeps a small group of meerkats in there. He has approximately a quarter of it with a deepish sand pit for them to play in. He and his family spend time most days sitting in there with them roaming free in there. He has one that likes sleeping like a scarf around his neck whilst he is reading or just relaxing in there. (He is often known to fall asleep in there after a late lunch). 😁 He started off being given three from a zoo (he is an exotic animal vet). To the best of my knowledge, he still has some.

We have a number of more unusual exotic animal keepers in the UK. Probably a fair few wild caught and smuggled in in the early years, but mostly now kept, raised and bred in more suitable conditions. I used to have contact with a few others that kept unusual pets when I kept snakes.
