The Vieja Has Landed

That looks like a true Blue Texas to me.

Does not look like any of the Carpintis i have kept before :S

Thanks for finding that for me Nelly.

Gotta say, they are fantastic tanks, great the way they are set up, blooming huge too

Never though much of the argentea until I saw his Vid of one, but they are stunning.

Minxy the texas are the Herichthys cyanoguttatus not the carpintis, some one id'd them for me something to do with the size and colour of the spots, also called the rio grand texas or true blue.

Better photos here, really colouring up now, beautiful fish even at 3" :D

Still wont keep still, but seems happy enough.

Really is a lovely fish, even nicer watching him swimming around in the tank. I was wondering is there a possibility if the Texas is the opposite sex would they cross breed?

Every possibility. And they do seem to love each other right now, following each other, last night after lights out, they were both in the same corner, cuddling up  Without knowing their sexes, it will be a case of watch and see what happens.

Yeh they will cross breed, All Centrals can hybridise and will do so readily because they don't tend to 'pair' like Souths.

Would be a nice reddish Texas if they do, espech if you bred the hybrid of the 2 with a blood parrot then back with a Carpintis Escondido.

I thought it looked bigger then 3". Very nice and will look awesome once full grown.
