well for christmas, or slightly after christmas, i am getting a 4 foot evasion fish tank (264l / 59 gallon) and have been planning the stocking for it for ages like a nerd = D lol

i currently have, in a 29 gallong, 3 pictus cats, a BGK, 3 baby angels, 2 kribs (breeding pair), 4 kuhli loaches, an L134, and L104, a bristle nose, 2 otos, 4 glass cats, a butterfly fish and thats about it.

i will be moving the glass cats, kuhli loaches and the kribs on coz i'm wanting an amazonian fish tank so these are for grabs if anyone is interested, the female has really vibrant colours :shifty: so do the glass cats :p

i am going to replace the loaches with a few corys, sterbai and swartzi as these are nice and contrast with each other. my problem here though is that the pictus cats might not like them... anyone kept the two together before? i thought it would be okay because the pictus cats tend to stay on the gravel half of my tank and i reckon the corys would stay on the softer sand on the other side.

i was gonna replace the kribs with an amazonian dwarf cichlid, blue rams are top of the list :D i was also thinking of them cuckoo cichlids too. would they get along?

and for the second centre peice fish (first until the angels grow up anyway)... a nice pair of fire mouth cichlids.

would all this be okay?

i am going to be adding a few L-number too... L027, L066, L075, L204 and an L266 (£124 for these alone!!) lol

thanks

Fire mouths are from Central America, not the Amazon in South America. Also the butterfly fish are from the Congo.

I would say the pictus would stress the cories, my pictus used to dash all around the tank making everything get out the way. I wouldn't bet on them each sticking to either gravel or sand.

In the long run the otto's and possibly the small cichlids you choose will either be pictus or BGK food.

7 plecs in the tank will produce huge amounts of waste, so those along with the other stocking will mean a need for a excellent filtration in a tank that size and large, regular water changes.

What are the other dimensions of the tank, there could well be territorial issues with so many bottom dwelling fish, unless it is well broken up.

ohh! lol thanks for that, i guess it's an American Tank then lol i forgot to say i would be moving the butterfly fish on.

my pictus currently aren't too energetic but i suppose that could change in a bigger tank. the ottos stay too high for the pictus to get them and i don't even think the BGK knows they are there lol my pictus do tend to stay on the gravel in the tank atm, don't know why but again i guess this could change in a bigger tank.

i know L-numbers do create lots of waste and thats why i have decided not to get the Royal pleco (panaque) now. do you recommend a filter for this kinda job? i'd prefer it to be external but i think i'm gonna put an internal filter in too, for extra precaution :shifty:

the tank itself is 120cm x 40cm x 55cm (here it is)
looks stunning too :hyper:
