The plants have done fantastically well with just a lot of light, also this is the first time I have been able to grow vallis. In fact its growing like crazy and im considering taking it all out and replacing with something else. My underwater bonsai tree is looking good but I had to prune the lilly thing so it would get more light. Xmas tree moss is very slow growing. The thin pieces of driftwood will soon have java moss tied to it and will be positioned loosely round the sides of the tank.

The inhabitants are:

Fish:

7 Galaxy rasboras
4 lampeye killifish
3 sterbai corys
6 ottos
6 Bristlenose pl*cos adult/sub adult (soon to be just 3 adults)
about a dozen bristlenose fry (I let nature take its course and so far the survivours are doing well)
1 Mango pl*co

Invertibrates

1 Large bamboo shrimp (the king)
30+ Cherry/Wild cherry shrimp
10+ Bee shrimp
10+ Bumblebee shrimp
10+ Tiger shrimp (and hybrid tigers)
about 10 Rainbow shrimp
4 Amano shrimp
1 Japanese trapdoor snail
tons of trumpet snails
pest pond snails

Really loving it! What size of tank is it and what's the lighting again?

Are the shrimp breeding OK with the fish?

The idea of a decent sized tank with lot's of little inhabitants really appeals to me :).

Its 40 US gallons (wider than a standard 3 footer). Lighting is by 2 T5 tubes and 2 standard (2 chokes with a double output) although one of my T5 tubes is faulty so its only got the 3 tubes just now.

The shrimp are not really breeding as much as they could be but I'm starting to see more berried females. They seem to stop completely after a tank move. I'm also going to be topping them up in the near future.

Very nice m8, just set up a 40gal, 4ft for my shrimp too, got about 80 Cherries (from an original 12), just bought 5 Crystals i'm hoping will breed and got a 'king' too, love the bamboo, hes class. hopefully i will get some pics up soon too but havent got the tank the way i want it yet.

Really love your Shrimpy town ~T~. It looks like a pretty little garden :good: :good: Lovely fish too :) Gotta show us more shrimpy pics :D

I was just thinking about your other shrimpy town thread in the inverts section the other day. Do you still have that small (8 gal) shrimp tank?

Yeah my cam kinda sucks at getting good tank/fish/shrimp shots :(

I still have Shrimpy Town but its now derelict with just a handfull of trumpet snails picking through the mess of straggly java moss. I was thinking about dedicating it to one kind of shrimp (crystal reds probably) but the reason The Shrimp kingdom was built was so I could break down Shrimpy Town

I'm sure your shrimps like the big shrimpy town very much :D

Cheers guys, I got a new bamboo shrimp today and another 4 ottos. Although they had more lampeyes and I forgot to buy them  The new bamboo shrimp is not even half the size of my big guy. Oh and I got another T5 tube yay!

Thats a great looking tank...

Big tanks with hundreds of shrimp is definatly the right way to go :D
