anyone have any experience with it?
i know it prefers cooler water but how much light does it need?

they have a bunch of it at my lfs and ooooooh it looks gorgeous

im guessing my goldfish would snack on it though  and my goldfish tanks are the only non-tropical tanks i have.

although...the lfs does have it in their normal plant tank with bosemani rainbows and neons...

Sorry, have no experience with the plant-- but White Cloud Minnows are great little fish who like cooler water.

A. madagascariensis makes such high demands on water quality and the bottom that it can only be recommended as a solitary plant in large, specialised aquariums in which the water is replaced frequently.

Light should be medium, about 2-3 watts per gallon, the temperature is fine, 15-26*Celsius. Difficult only means you're going to need good substrate and fertilize

If you provide ideal condtions a good specimen should last a few months. I've not heard of them being kept for much longer. A stunning plant though. How much are they? They're really expensive here in the UK.

Here's a link giving more info.

they are 7.99

why only a few months? is that how long they live or is it just too difficult to keep them? that article seems to say that it is the difficulty of keeping them.

I think it's because, like most Aponogeton species, it requires a rest period. I think it's this where it normally dies as most people get it wrong. I'm sure there's plenty of tips on the net, it's beyond my knowledge I'm afraid!
