The New Twenty Gallon Tank!

Hi. So, if you've read about my My fish cabinet project you have read that it was built for two twenty gallon tanks. Well, I only have one twenty gallon tank, so, how do I solve this problem....hmm...how about set up another twenty gallon tank!! So, this is my idea, a tank with

two Gold Australe, Aphyosemion australe
two German Blue Rams
three Sparkling Gouramis
five Zebra Danios

well, that's my present plan. I am worried, my preferred fish store will only sell you six sparkling goramis, but maybe since I'm such a loyal customer I can get three.

Today I am shopping for decorations, and setting up the new tank. I will fill it half full of tank water that I have already used in my other tanks to speed up the start of the nitrogen cycle.

I just got some cool tree roots from my local fish store to use in my tank!!

That's the good news. The bad news is that on the way home I started feeling really sick. I think it was the cheese quesadilla I ate for lunch. I said "No meat" to the person at the restaurant, and they not only put no meat on it, but they also removed the beans AND the delicious guacamole I was looking forward to!! I'm surprised that they didn't just give me a plate of melted cheese!!!

Anyway, I may not make any more progress on the tanks today....

So far I have made some progress. I have gotten the tank full of water, gotten the heater and filter going, and added gravel. I need to buy more gravel and possibly a new heater, because the old heater is making the tank way too warm. I also got some wood to put in the tank. It is basically some really cool tree roots. Right now it is floating in the tanks. I forgot to mention this, but the lights for the tank are MISSING!!!!!!!! Does andybody know of some good, cheap (preferably fluorescent) light hood on sale, or how to make and aquarium light?

I am using some mature filter media from my other tank for a few days, along with gravel. I have added some plants, also.

permanently use the mature media. wont help much (if at all) just having it in there, and then taking it out.

I have gotten some lights that are slightly pink I have also gotten some danios. In two weeks I will get more fish. The killis or the gouramis, because I read that a tank needs to be set up for at least one two months before you add rams.

I saw a baby danio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What do I do

I'd look into the compatibility a bit more, as im pretty sure danios like cooler temperatures versus GBR (german blue rams)who need it on the warmer side.... what about 2 GBR possibly some corys and a larger school of ember tetras or any of the not so large tetras (all these fish are from SA too) so it would ALMOST be like a cool biotype tank in a way... but take or leave what you want, have fun though!

According to the fish dictionary I read they are compatible. The baby danio is gone. I saw it very early in the morning. I was probably dreaming.

No, it's probably been eaten.

Danios are more temperate fish and prefer a temperature averaging around 20. Furthermore they're very active and would benefit from being in a much longer tank.

GBRs like warmer water, an average of around 28.

They're not compatible in this sense.

Agree with all of this. Danios need long tanks with cool, fast flowing water. Blue rams need warm water. They are in no way suitable to be housed together. Sorry.
