smithrc...great pictures, will the riccia (I presume thats what it is) completely cover the hairnet on it's own or do you have to keep poking bits underneath?

A good start mate. Is that Dennerle lighting? That combined with your CO2 and ferts will have the plants filling out nicely in no time.

Yep 2x 18W Special Plant tubes :)

Other than the Amazon Swords and the Java fern - all the others are new to me.
I went on the guidence of the 'plant guy' at one of our lfs. Reccomended as fasy growers that will do well in the tank :)

He checked my light levels any everything

need to check the dosing for the ferts :)

and get the damn CO2 on form :/

CO2 is finally going right - the Yeast im using is 'a bit' out of date and has taken 1.5 tsp to get it going... but my PH is now at 7 with a KH oh 8 beans I'm heading towards 30.
I'll dose some ferts in the morning - hopefully I'll have pearling when i get home :)

Looks Great without any fish in it, what are you planning to place in this tank, I am right in thinking its more catfish?

Must admit the tubes and bogwood are a bit of a give away!

Any specific L number?

Mells

looking good mate, you may want to spread the riccia out though, if you spread that clump over the whole rock surface it will fill in the gaps on its own. thats riccia fluitians you have there (grows like grass with vertical leaves, not the bush type growth you get with dwarf riccia.)

No fish?? (take a quite double take at piccy 3 :p)

There are 4 Prestilla tetras - 5 Rummy nose Tetras - 2 ladder loaches - and 3 amano shrimp...

... and Rambo L075, Buffy and Spike L134's :D

Donsider it done (well nearly :))

just tested my KH again... Its fallen

Was at 8º just 2 days ago...

It was 7º at first test tonight
then using the double ammount test - it looks like its at about 6.75º

So the problem is i've been aiming at PH 6.9 for about 30ppm.

BUT KH at 6.75 means that my PH at 6.95 give me only 20ppm...

Grrr

well...

as you will see from the dates - its been about 1 week now... and the growth has been scary!

Day 1...
