The Last Day

I have definitely learned that they will sell them the same day at Pets at Home... bought my betta that died a week later there... when I returned to get a replacement or refund they told me to come back Wednesday when they come in and I could choose one then.... I got  a refund.

I shall be extra careful the next time... I might not buy them at Maidenhead (not sure what kind of fish my next ones will be and that will probably be months from now) maybe I might try a recommended breeder I hear about or some such.

One of my sunset platies developed a greyish belly (she was from MA too).  The other sunset I bought at the same time was beautiful with a solid gold colour but this one looked like you could see through her skin and it was dark grey inside.

You can see the grey-bellied fish on the left and her solid-coloured companion on the right.  I always wondered if this was simply due to more translucent skin or an abdominal defect of some sort?

Hmmm.... All my platies except the first one have been transparent like that.

You have a very normal platy's  some females show more of a dark graved spot and some  are translucent due to not carrying any fry also it can look the same when carrying Light Coloured fry
